Thanksgivity

Thanksgiving has come. And this is the first time Thanksgiving has meant more to me than just engorging myself on various "comfort" foods. Things lately have been so good. The things I'm thankful for:

1. My little brother, Matt.
I'm so happy he's home. Back in highschool we were never antagonistic towards each other, but we never did anything together. Everything I liked, Matt was disinterested in, and vice a versa. Now that he's back from his mission, it's so much fun. We do tons of stuff together. We may not enjoy the others taste, but we can enjoy the others company.

I know have the friendship with Matt that I always hoped to have with him.

2. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You guys won't believe this. I got a text from Campbell, my highschool sign language teacher. She has just bought me a ticket to go see Wicked when they perform it in Salt Lake this spring. I am so ridiculously excited. I have absolutely no idea what I did to merit such love, but I'm so happy.

It was the one of the sweetest gestures that anyone has ever done for me. ever. I can remember the first time I heard a song from Wicked. It was during rehearsal for Much Ado About Nothing. The rest you're not interested in. The fact is I remember exactly the first time I heard 'What is This Feeling'. Campbell has known for years that I am in love with that musical. And she also knows that despite multiple opportunities for seeing it, all of them have fallen through. She understood, to an extent, how much this story means to me. April 25th 2 pm!!!

I'll admit. I cried. Becky's my witness.

C. My date to Body Worlds.
It was such a fun experience. I loved it. I actually liked it better than my date to the Pink Floyd laser show. The reason; that date was with someone I knew from highschool. We already knew each other. There were no introductions, there was no getting to know each other. We knew what jokes to tell, and how to react to each other.

This wasn't the case last Friday. There were some awkward moments. But strangely, I cherish those awkward moments. It made the whole experience real. It meant it wasn't perfect. It wasn't a dream. I was really there getting to know this wonderful young woman. The imperfections just made it all the more poignant.

Becky is helping me plan the second date.

5rd. Today and My Friend So Young.
So Young, that is essentially how you pronounce it, so it'll be how I spell it. Anyway. She is from Korea. As you can see, she is very cute. No, she is not the girl I asked to Body Worlds. Maybe I should've. I digress. As I said, she is from Korea. I took a wild guess and assumed she would not be spending the Thanksgiving break heading back to her country to celebrate a holiday her culture doesn't acknowledge. As such, I didn't want her to spend the five-day weekend alone in Provo. I asked her if she wanted to spend Thanksgiving with my family. She said yes.

It was super fun. It was her first traditional Thanksgiving. First time she ate turkey. She ate alot of it. I should've warned her. All the tryptophan put her out like a light. We were watching Monsters Inc. and digesting. Next thing I know, I look over and she's asleep. I didn't have the heart to wake her up, so she slept through most of the movie.

So Young comes from a family of two kids. She's not used to large family gatherings. She absolutely adored having so many people in one place. She loved my nieces and nephews (who doesn't) and was constantly playing with them. She doted over baby Tessa, and used every excuse possible to go see the chunky-cheek baby. It amazed her that I had extended family there: aunts, uncles, cousins, both grandmas. And most of all, she loved to be surrounded by such a huge family of Mormons. As you may have guessed, there aren't many Mormons in Korea.

In reference to the family (as a whole) the words she used most often were warm and warmth. Like, "I love your family. They are so warm and happy." or, "I'm so glad you invited me to spend time with your family. I felt their warmth." It was really endearing. I don't think she's into me, but I wouldn't be surprised if she married me solely to get to all the nieces and nephews and brothers and sisters and everything. She really loved this family. Especially Roxy and Tessa.

I know I have a billion and a half other things I'm thankful for. But i'm too tired to write about them now. Things like being a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. For this blog. And for all the people who actually care about me enough to read about my stupid ruminations. You guys really do make me feel loved. Thanks for taking time out your busy days to waste it on me.

I love it.
